Why I chose to drive myself stitch crazy...

Hi, everyone! I've been browsing through many sewing blogs and they are amazing. I am a novice, and by no means a seamstress yet! But I thought this would be a really cool way to keep myself motivated. My first project, which is still in progress is an apron. I'll put up the pattern, etc in a later post. I love aprons because of the details you can add to them. They can be vintage or whimsical, and for some reason I don't find them as intimidating to sew. Although, I procrastinated for about a week on cutting the pattern pieces, lol, because I was so scared of messing the whole thing up. My goal is to make clothes I love. I really don't like shopping unless it's for purses or shoes. My inspiration for sewing is vintage, and Halloween. Yes, I said Halloween. Halloween is my favorite holiday. I love the costumes, the candy, the scary movies. And I like the witchy look in flowy tops, and dresses. Also, the bell sleeves, and black or red velvet are gorgeous. I am also inspired by delectable sweets. Who isn't? Desserts like cupcakes, ice cream make cute whimsical detail for childrens clothes and bedding. Another reason I love to sew is because I love fabric. I am fascinated by the textures, and the prints. I am still learning and loving every minute of it. I predict I will make lots of mistakes along the way. But I don't mind imperfection. I don't find massed produced clothes perfect. They certainly don't fit me perfectly. That being said, I am more aware of the time someone took to make the clothes that I buy. I inspect the stitches, and I am pleased to recognize them by name. And I imagine that one day I will leave my own beloved stitches for someone else to appreciate.
